Comerica Bank Joins Kids Korps USA in Holiday Effort to Expand Numbers of Youth Volunteers for San Diego Non-Profits
SOLANA BEACH, CA., NOV. 12, 2009 — Comerica Bank and Kids Korps USA are joining forces to expand access to volunteerism by children and youth in San Diego County.
Beginning the first week of December, all 12 Comerica Bank banking centers in San Diego County will feature lobby displays about the Adopt-a-Volunteer Program of Kids Korps USA, a San Diego County-based national organization that engages young people 5 to 25 in community service in support of more than 250 local non-profit organizations.
Bank lobby displays will show visitors how individuals and businesses can “adopt” memberships for youth and teens from underserved communities, underwriting their membership with Kids Korps this holiday season.
“The funds raised through donations from Comerica customers will be used to support Kids Korps chapters throughout San Diego and provide opportunities for low-income children, youth and teens to join in the more than 1,200 volunteer projects that Kids Korps plans each year,” said Brian Hawkins, board member of Kids Korps. “Participating in these projects and learning to reach out and help others can develop leadership-oriented youth and build new generations that treat others with genuine care and love.”
“It takes dedication and the right kinds of partnerships to make a difference in our community, and at Comerica Bank our employees are committed to helping people succeed and communities grow,” said Betty Tucker, executive vice president and manager of Comerica’s retail bank operations in California and Arizona. “We are excited about being able to provide the opportunity for our banking center customers to help Kids Korps in its effort to provide volunteers for San Diego County non-profits, especially during the holiday season,” added Michael Landau, manager of Comerica’s Point Loma banking center.
